Beautiful temple and grounds that must be seen if you are in Kyoto during the momiji season. Luckily this temple is not as busy as others so you will be able to walk it peacefully. Still, it is a good idea to visit early in the morning to avoid crowds.
The most special thing about this temple is the pagoda and the pond with the red maple trees. Make sure to get goshuin here too, their calligraphy is very beautiful and you can choose from different types.

What a hidden gem of a temple, rather group of temples, to pleasurably walk around and take in the views. Sadly I went a little too late in the season since all the colorful red-yellow-orange leaves had fallen. I will return next time in season to behold the true beauty of this place.
We visited in early Nov and the leaves are starting to turn red. This temple has beautiful gardens, you can opt in doing a 2hr hike up and down the mountains in the very back.
The entrance is 600yen for one place, 1000yen for 2 places, 1500yen for 3 places. We picked 2 places and ended up spending an entire afternoon there.
