Hiroshima Orizuru Tower is a modern landmark and observatory that offers a unique perspective on the city's past and present. Located next to the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima, this tower is not just a place for panoramic city views but also a symbol of peace and hope.
Completed in 2016, the tower stands 50 meters tall and features an innovative design that includes a wooden observation deck on the top floor. From here, visitors can look out over the Peace Memorial Park and the broader cityscape of Hiroshima. The view from the deck is especially poignant, providing a direct line of sight to the Atomic Bomb Dome, one of the few structures to partially survive the atomic blast in 1945.
One of the most memorable activities at Hiroshima Orizuru Tower is creating and dropping an orizuru, or paper crane, from the top floor into a massive glass wall inside the building. The orizuru is a symbol of peace, inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki, who famously folded paper cranes i a wish for recovery and peace after being exposed to radiation from the bomb.
