Very narrow and curvy road to get there, but you can park close by & there’s restrooms. It’s a short walk up some stairs. Interesting place since there’s nothing left except the foundations.

The path is approximately 2 kilometers in total and takes around 90 minutes to complete. The route follows uneven stone steps through a cypress forest, which can become slippery after rain. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
Spring (late March to early April) brings cherry blossoms along the trail and castle town. Autumn (October to November) offers mountain foliage against the stone ruins. Both seasons are the most visually rewarding and offer the best hiking conditions.
Ena Station on the JR Chuo Line connects Iwamura to Magome-juku, a preserved Nakasendo post town approximately 1 hour 15 minutes away. Both destinations are manageable as a single day trip from Nagoya.
Wish I knew there were too parking lots before hand. Don't use the back one. Also wish I knew it was a 2km hike. 1 up and down a mountain. English translations on l explainations. QR codes if you want to see CG photos of what the castle would look like. I could not find a drink machine. The museum didn't have one or the bathroom area at the top of the mountain. I had to go to the hotel place across the street.
The foundation stones of the castle are still as strong and stable as the day the were laid hundreds of years ago.
The location, high on a hill, gives a commanding view of the local area although the surrounding forest has grown tall and obstructed the view from when the castle was occupied.
