This is only about the Race Track. (Not the resort/hotel. We went to the MotoGP weekend. The race was fun but there is no shade at all. The vending machines ran out of water all three days, and for a tech country, there was only a very small screen in our seat section.
Mobility Resort Motegi is a motorsports and recreation facility in Tochigi Prefecture operated by Honda. Visitors can attend racing events including MotoGP, tour the Honda Collection Hall museum, participate in go-karting and motorcycle driving experiences, use adventure park facilities with zip lines and climbing walls, and stay in camping or glamping accommodations.
By car, take the Joban Expressway for approximately two to two and a half hours. By public transport, take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen to Utsunomiya Station, then a 40-minute bus to the resort. The facility is 120 kilometers northeast of Tokyo.
Basic admission can be purchased on-site, but advance booking is recommended for driving experiences, go-karting, and adventure activities, particularly on weekends. I was lucky enough to watch the recent MotoGP there. The venue itself was great. The major letdown was the extremely poor organisation to get people away from the stadium after the race. I strongly recommend that you book a bus or taxi prior to the event. For the many of us who foolishly didn't, including Japanese, it took an hour and a half to figure out how to get out. We ended up on a two hour bus trip to a train station, a ridiculously long way way from the track. I thought I'd never make it back to Tokyo.
This is a review for the TRACK venue, not the hotel! What a world class venue this is! Super GT here was truly incredible. The weather in early November is perfect.
Honda Collection Hall is a must see, rich history with a great selection of motorbikes, cars and Honda models. Although it is quite far from anything else, its worth the drive especially if there are other events on in the day (motorbike track day for me). MOTEGI had a small entry fee but for car and bike enthusiasts money well spent. There is also a huge kids amusement park attached near the track- could easily do a full day for visitors bringing their kids.
