What other travelers are saying about Naminoue Beach, Naha
A very beautiful beach with crystal-clear water. Although the visibility with goggles isn’t great, the beach feels safe and well-organized. Safety guards are always on duty and make sure everyone stays away from the jellyfish net.
Not my favorite but definitely a great beach! There was a ton of debris in the water but other than that it was enjoyable. There are coin showers next to the little shop. There were lifeguards on duty and very actively watching. The netted area is pretty large during high tide. The best place to park is the coin parking lot right next to the beach- it is a but hard to find parking on the weekends though.
Despite the highway overpasses blocking the ocean view, this is a surprisingly nice beach with white sand and crystal clean water. Popular with locals and tourists alike, it is a short bus ride from anywhere in Naha. We went every day we were here.
This was the closest beach to my hotel so I was happy to check it out. You should swim in the blue netted area for your safety during box jellyfish season. There’s lifeguards here during the day. It’s also cool food trucks and fresh water shower to rinse after a swim. The water is calm and clean. You’ll see tourists dressed up as geishas coming here to do photoshoots.
Whoever had the idea to do a highway in the water at the only beach from Naha is really reaaaaalllyyyy insensitive. Was not the smartest idea, I believe.
The highway connects the airport with Naha and it shows - unfortunately - what tourism and profit focus does to nature and locals.
Yes. The beach has designated safe swimming zones marked by buoys with lifeguard supervision during the season (typically April-October). Shallow, calm waters make it suitable for families with children.
Changing facilities, showers, restrooms, coin lockers, and equipment rentals including beach umbrellas, chairs, and snorkeling gear (approximately 1,000-2,000 yen per item).
Naminoue Shrine is Okinawa's most important Shinto shrine, established over 700 years ago, located on the clifftop directly above the beach. Stone steps connect the beach to the shrine for easy access.`
Visit Naminoue Shrine above the beach, explore Naminoue Park, and enjoy restaurants and shops in the Wakasa area. Kokusai Street, Naha's main tourist thoroughfare, is 20-30 minutes on foot.
