Nitori Kanko Orchard, formerly known as Yamamoto Tourist Orchard, is a 15-17 hectare fruit farm located in Yoichi-cho, Hokkaido, approximately one hour's drive from Sapporo. Yoichi is one of Japan's top wine-producing regions, situated alongside the Sea of Japan, and the town is also home to the famous Nikka Whisky distillery. The orchard represents Hokkaido's agricultural heritage and has become a popular agritourism destination, particularly during the summer months when 70% of customers are international tourists.

The farm cultivates strawberries, pears, grapes, blueberries, peaches, cherries, apples, and chestnuts, with the fruit-picking season running from mid-June to early November. The orchard grows over 10 different cultivars of cherries, including sato nishiki, benishuho, summit, and nanyo varieties. The farm's commitment to sustainable agriculture is evident in its use of organic compost made from rapeseed grounds, soybeans, and millet, with minimal agricultural chemicals, allowing fruits to be eaten directly from the trees.

Visitors can choose from unlimited all-you-can-eat picking courses priced at 2,000 yen for adults, 1,500 yen for elementary school students, and 700 yen for children aged 3-5. The pricing remains consistent regardless of which fruit is in season, and when multiple varieties are available simultaneously, guests can sample different fruits at no additional charge. The orchard features a rest house where visitors can purchase fresh vegetables, fruit juice, and the signature apple pie for 380 yen. The facility includes free parking for 200 cars and 10 buses.

The orchard is located approximately 5 minutes by car from the Yoichi Interchange. From Yoichi Station, the farm is a 5-7 minute taxi ride costing approximately 1,350-1,400 yen. Visitors can reach Yoichi from Sapporo Station via Otaru Station, with the train journey taking approximately one hour. The orchard operates seven days a week throughout the season.

What other travelers are saying about Nitori Kanko Orchard, Yoichi

Great experience - the farm is big enough to host big crowds without bumping into each other. Make sure you check out the fruit season - we went there on 5-Jul-2025, the only fruit we could have without advance reservation was cherry. The place is clean and the walk path was actually quite easy to walk - no dirt or uneven terrains. There milk ice cream was super tasty! Friendly staff. Just 10mins drive from Yoichi station. You can ask the staff at the farm to call a taxi for you in case you didnt rent a car.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reservations are not required for fruit picking, allowing visitors to arrive at their convenience during operating hours. You can simply drive to the orchard and start picking fruit immediately. However, if you wish to enjoy Jingisukan (Genghis Khan barbecue) at the orchard, reservations must be made at least three days in advance. The orchard operates on a walk-in basis for fruit picking activities.

The orchard is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and operates seven days a week throughout the fruit picking season from mid-June to early November. The consistent daily schedule makes it convenient for visitors to plan their trips on any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.

The all-you-can-eat fruit picking course requires that all fruit be consumed on-site. If you wish to take cherries home, they are sold separately by weight at 220 yen per 100 grams. Other fruits can also be purchased by weight for take-home purposes. The orchard provides a rest house where you can purchase additional fresh produce and products to bring home.

When you arrive, the orchard provides you with a small basket, scissors, a knife, and a container for seeds and skins. However, visitors recommend bringing a small wet cloth or wipes to clean the fruit before eating, as the fruits can be dusty. It's also advisable to come with an empty stomach to fully enjoy the unlimited all-you-can-eat experience and wear comfortable walking shoes suitable for navigating the orchard grounds.

From Sapporo, take a train to Otaru Station, then transfer to a train heading to Yoichi Station. The total journey takes approximately one hour. From Yoichi Station, the orchard is accessible by taxi, with the ride costing approximately 1,350-1,400 yen and taking about 5-7 minutes. Note that train service to Yoichi may be infrequent, with roughly one train per hour, so it's important to check the train schedule in advance when planning your visit.

Visited on 31 July 2025. Picked cherries, peaches(very sweet and juicy) and blue berries among scenic views. Quite a hot day so dress appropriately.

An amazing experience to personally pick favorite fruits from tree branches and enjoy them extremely fresh right away. We were at the orchard in early November and only two seasonal fruits were available; apple and grape. It was our first time seeing apple trees lining up rows after rows. Each tree bearing dozens of apples despite its trunk is not that big; such a wonderful tree. We also tried grapes but did not like a distinct taste that reminded me of vine. The farm is quite far from town, getting here by car is the best option. Anyhow I saw one group calling taxi to pick them up at the farm. The fee for all-you-can-eat, tree-to-mouth fruit picking course is 2,300 yen. At the farm we were told that any take-home fruits will have to be paid by weight. When we checked information on its website later on, it indicates that you can pick and eat 2 kg. and take home any combinations of fruits. Rule is a bit unclear. Anyhow it is a good experience to try all year round with different seasonal fruits.

Friendly staff and they offer a wide variety of fruits for you to pick, however, it is good to check what fruits are in season before visiting. Great for families!

We went here on 2.11 with 1 day tour package on Klook, almost last chance for Apple picking. The garden is vast and apple trees are full of tasty Fuji apples. If you are going on your own,you can take a taxi from Yoichi station.
