What other travelers are saying about Tsukinoishi Momiji Park, Nagatoro
Great park for walking along the river and birdwatching between Kami Nagatoro and Nagatoro Station (about 20 min at average pace). I came mid-January around 8AM and saw over 20 species of birds and even a weasel! It's nice to go down to the river and enjoy the crunchy ice. There are good toilets with heated seats. If you keep following the river it takes you to Iwadatomi and the boat ride boarding point.

Yes. The park becomes crowded during peak foliage weekends and holidays, particularly during evening illumination events.
Nearby attractions include Nagatoro Gorge with line-rafting boat rides, Hodosan Shrine accessible by ropeway, river rock formations, and other autumn foliage spots throughout Nagatoro Town.
The lunar stone was great. It is an excellent place to hang out with family.
The river is good! You can take a boat, but it closes at 3 p.m. We tried to ride a boat but could not reach it because it was closed at 3 p.m.
If you miss the boat, you can still enjoy the riverside. Throwing the stone into the river can be fun and bring many laughs.
Parking is about 400-500 yen per day. The entrance for the lunar festival is about 100 yen. It gets better at night; many local Japanese go there, but not many Westerners.
The toilet is the worst in Japan! Dirty and full of garbage.
The street is also narrow, so drive it slowly and carefully.
Need to visit there during Nov and you can see the beauty of red leaves at night with special lightings. Recommended couples to go but better to arrive between 6-8pm since it’s closed around 8pm but Sun set at 4:30pm.
