Welcome to Tsuruma Park, a tranquil oasis in the heart of Nagoya that seamlessly blends Western and Japanese aesthetics. Established in 1909 as Nagoya's first municipal park, Tsuruma Park boasts a rich history and diverse attractions.

Stroll through its picturesque landscapes, which feature a European-style garden with a grand fountain, meticulously maintained flower beds, and rose gardens, alongside traditional Japanese elements like serene ponds and intricate bridges. Each spring, the park transforms into a vibrant spectacle as 750 cherry blossom trees burst into bloom, making it one of Japan's top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots.

Visitors from near and far gather for "Hanami" picnics, celebrating the fleeting beauty of the sakura in a tradition cherished across the country. Whether wandering through its scenic gardens, attending a concert at the Italian Renaissance-style music hall, or simply enjoying a peaceful moment by the fountain, Tsuruma Park offers something for everyone.

Take your chance to experience this historical and cultural gem. Plan your visit today and immerse yourself in the enchanting charm of Tsuruma Park.

What other travelers are saying about Tsuruma Park

It's a park you can enjoy even though it is mostly crowded on the weekends. The water fountain is really scenic at night. Mid of the November it's full of different colours of roses.

We went at the end of March 2025, which was unfortunately a little too early for the full bloom. Regardless, it was still pretty and I could tell that this would be a good location for cherry blossom viewing. They cordon off the hanami areas, where many people will be picnicking. However, they leave a trail in the middle so that you can still walk through and enjoy being in the midst of the flowers. There are numerous food trucks selling festival food. Overall, you can have a good time here admiring the cherry blossoms.

Went there for 花見 (flower viewing 2025). Although the place was filled with people the park was really nice. Definitely would go there again on a day with fewer people. It's a good spot for flower viewing.

Lovely park with a variety of gardens. We went to see the hydrangea walkway in early June, and it did not disappoint. Lovely blooms along a walkway of about 300 meters. There were a lot of people there taking pictures, but it's not peak season yet and didn't feel crowded. We saw plenty of people with dogs, and there were also playgrounds and plenty of places to sit and relax. The park is clean and feels very safe.

Clearly labelled sections with different flowers blooming at different times of the year. It’s a nice walk around, prob best early morning or in the evening when the sun isn’t so strong.
