Kyoto Uji Walking Tour and Tea Ceremony with Byodo-in Temple
4 hours
(4)
Explore Uji on a half-day guided walking tour from Kyoto. Visit the UNESCO-listed Byodo-in Temple, stroll across Uji Bridge, and enjoy a traditional tea ceremony in Japan’s famous tea region.
The tea ceremony may be shared with other participants. While it is not a private session, the experience remains calm and respectful, maintaining the atmosphere of a traditional tea room.
Entry to the Phoenix Hall is not guaranteed due to limited capacity. If it is unavailable on the day of your visit, a partial refund will be provided on-site.
This is a walking tour, so expect a fair amount of walking between locations. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. The terrain is mostly flat and suitable for all fitness levels.
In case of heavy rain or high river levels, access to Nakanoshima Park may be restricted. The tour will adjust accordingly to ensure your safety and comfort.
Yes, children can join the tour. However, please note that the tea ceremony involves sitting quietly in a traditional tatami room, which may be challenging for very young children.
Historic architecture is well worth seeing especially in Uji apart from a good green afternoon tea . Highly recommended this landmark for Kyoto tour.

Train ride and quick overview of Uji
Uji is a very nice place to visit. The tour was good, covered a walk along the Uji river, tea ceremony and Byodoin temple. The best part is that the group is small, so easier to get around.
The transportation included is a JR train ride. The pace is fast, almost impossible to keep up if you stop to take photos.
