Very nice place. Need personal transport to visit here. No public transport.
I had read that there were a variety of sunflowers blooming both early and late, but when I went there on Aug. 15, they had all already gone to seed. Plus it's a little hard to find. However, the views of the surrounding landscape are stunning, so a sunrise or sunset visit earlier in the season is highly recommended. The whole field is up on a hill so you can get photos without buildings or wires in them.
Season was not posted correctly. When I went nothing was there.
The sunflowers reach full bloom from mid-July through early August, with peak viewing typically in the final week of July. Bloom timing varies annually based on weather. Weekday mornings are less crowded than weekends and holidays.
The site has walking pathways, observation platforms, parking for several hundred vehicles, portable restrooms, and seasonal vendor stalls selling food and souvenirs. Facilities are basic given the rural location.
Flower picking is generally prohibited. Designated cutting areas may be available in some years post-season, but this varies. Check with on-site staff for current policies.
The elevated location provides panoramic views of Mount Akagi and the surrounding Gunma countryside. The hillside position offers photographers landscape compositions combining the sunflower fields with mountain backdrops.
Pathways through the field are unpaved agricultural paths that may be uneven or muddy depending on weather conditions. The terrain and natural setting make wheelchair and stroller access challenging. The observation platforms may have limited accessibility features.
