What other travelers are saying about Unicorn Gundam Statue
Standing in front of this 1-to-1 scale masterpiece back in April 2019 was an absolute highlight of the trip. The Unicorn Gundam is a massive feat of engineering, standing nearly 20 meters tall, and the level of detail is just incredible when you’re standing right at its feet.
I’m so glad I caught the transformation sequence where the armor plates shift and the lights change—it’s a "peak Japan" moment that feels like an anime coming to life. Even seven years later, looking at the photos of it standing tall against the Tokyo sky reminds me of how impressive the scale truly is. It’s an absolute must-see for anyone visiting the waterfront, whether you're a fan of the series or just appreciate world-class craftsmanship.
This statue is awesome!! It even lights up at night and changes it's helmet configuration randomly into the white unicorn helmet. The mall and Gundam store inside is also super cool. Must visit the Gundam store on the top floors of the mall!
Got to finally take this off from my childhood bucket list of things to do during this visit! What made it even more memorable personally was that I was able to share it with my Toddler who I introduced to Gundam that same day. Seeing his reaction after walking out from the food court is priceless! Now to try and see the other 2 remaining statues. 😅
A little bit out of the way but it does have a life size gundam! Nothing of note here with a large shopping complex although externally the area looks a little bit tired but very clean. The monorail servicing the area is very good with excellent views. Only go if you have a few hours to kill.
The real thing is incredibly grand and spectacular. The details on the robot are meticulously captured, making it look like it stepped straight out of the anime. The highlight is when the robot transforms from Unicorn Mode to Destroy Mode, which is incredibly cool and amazing. I recommend watching it at night when the lights are turned on and the images are displayed on the building's walls. The light and sound show is truly impressive.
The Unicorn Gundam Statue is a life-sized replica of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam from the anime series 'Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn'. It is located in Tokyo, Japan, at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza on Odaiba Island.
The Unicorn Gundam Statue stands at approximately 19.7 meters (about 64.6 feet) tall, making it an impressive sight for visitors.
Yes, the statue can transform between its two modes: Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode. This transformation involves changes in its appearance and lighting effects, which occur several times throughout the day.
The Unicorn Gundam Statue was officially unveiled on September 24, 2017, replacing the previous RX-78-2 Gundam statue that stood in its place.
The site often hosts various events and activities related to the Gundam franchise. There are also light shows and performances that take place around the statue, enhancing the experience for fans and tourists alike.
