Sleepy town with Delightful Cuisine and centrepiece of UNESCO sites
A good halt to begin a side trip to Shirakawago Gokayama Suginama Unesco heritage villages. A sleepy town with good train connections to Nagoya and surrounding Kanazawa prefecture. Hida Soba Hida Beef Hida souvenirs especially the Sarubobo Dolls Lucky Monkey Babies are memories to take back. Good choice of restaurants for lunch Soba noodles Ramen scattered in small tiny eateries while diners become special with Hida Beef Specialties and Yakiniku or Japanese style serving. Very scanty Bars but unlike other cities the town shuts down by 9 pm.

Excellent English tour
While the weather didn’t quite cooperate we still made the best of it. On the bright side we ran into a lot of monkeys. Hemi was a great guide giving color and depth to the area and its history. The smaller group size (10) was preferable. Would highly recommend.
