What other travelers are saying about Mt. Harunasan Ropeway
Not recommend. I have read comment that there is no view after going up to the peak by cable car, as many trees blocked the view. However, we took the cable car as the mountain is famous. Really, nothing to see at the peak, 1200 yen is too expensive
It’s a nice old rope way from the bottom of the Mt. Haruna to the top! You can get up there in a few minutes! You can see nice scenery of the way up!
If you never tried, it’s a nice try! :)
Come see what’s in front of you!
Cheers 🥂
Amazing views over Gunma! On a clear day, you can even get a peek at Mt. Fuji way in the distance.
It costs ¥450 for a one way trip or ¥850 for a roundtrip on the ropeway. Alternatively, you can hike for free.
Very nice ride and the view from the top of the mountain was amazing. Make sure to not go here after dark or in cloudy weather cause the view wouldn't be worth it.
The ride takes three minutes each way, ascending 300 meters from 1,100 meters to near the summit. You'll see Lake Haruna below, and on clear days Mount Fuji, the Kanto Plain, and the Tanigawa mountain range.
The ropeway operates year-round. Autumn foliage peaks in mid-October. Spring has cherry blossoms, summer offers hiking conditions, and winter provides snow landscapes and access to nearby ski facilities.
The area has boat rentals on Lake Haruna, hiking trails, and Haruna Shrine (1,400 years old) at the mountain base. The upper station provides trail access to the summit.
Yes, hiking trails connect the lake area to the summit. The climb takes approximately 60-90 minutes depending on your pace and the route chosen. You can purchase a one-way ropeway ticket to ride up and hike down or vice versa.
